Acquire land for Mandakalli Airport runway work: Minister GT Devegowda

Mysuru, July 30:- Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda instructed the officials to acquire the required land for the expansion of the runway at Mandakalli Airport here.

He held a meeting with the officials of Mandakalli Airport along with MP Pratap Simha on Saturday. He asked the officials to start the runway work by January. The minister said that the runway expansion requires 286 acres of land, out of which final notification has been done for 180 acres and the remaining 78 acres will be notified soon. The minister and the Lok Sabha member asked the officials to conduct a joint survey.

“There is a complaint that Mysuru has no opportunities. By expanding the reachability to the city, we can increase employment opportunities in the district. With 10 lane roads, the time taken to cover the distance between Mysuru and Bengaluru will be brought down to 90 minutes. Air travel is the only means the city lacks as of now,” Devegowda added.
