Actions should be taken to prevent AIDS in state: Prof P Dhanalakshmi

Mysuru, February 10:- Karnataka AIDS Prevention Cell, Mysuru District AIDS Control Cell, Red Cross Society and Sarada Vilas College jointly organised a drawing competition on AIDS prevention.

The principal of Sarada Vilas College P Dhanalakshmi inaugurated the competition.

“India has 1,20,334 Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome patients and Karnataka has about 2,789 AIDS patients. Mysuru district has 77 AIDS patients. Awareness should be created among the public regarding AIDS. Health Department should also work to eradicate AIDS,” she said.

“Preventive measures should be taken to control HIV/AIDS. Tourists arriving from foreign countries should be made to undergo tests. Separate wards should be set up at hospitals in all the districts,” said NCC captain of the college Prof R A Manjunath.

Students of Sarada Vilas College participated in the competition.

Dr P Ravi, district supervisor of KR Hospital Dr Savitha, Gopal, senior counsellor of KR Hospital Dr Sathyanarayana and others were present. (MR/GK)
