Activists stage protest against Agnipath scheme in Mysuru

Prime News, National, Karnataka, Defence, Employment, Youth, Protest, Mysuru, June 24:- The activists of Samyuktha Horata Karnataka staged a protest in Mysuru on Friday (June 24) in support of Samyuktha Kisan Morcha’s call for protest against the ‘Agnipath’ scheme. 

The protest was held in front of the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner’s office here. The protesters said that the new military recruitment scheme ‘Agnipath’ by the government has become a path to destroy the spirit of “Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan.” This is playing with the future of our country. The future of young military aspirants will be forever changed and destroyed. There are more cons than pros to the new scheme. They also said that the scheme was in a way to seek revenge on farmer protests.” 
The Union Cabinet took the decision and announced the ‘Agnipath’ recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the armed forces. The youth selected under the Agnipath scheme will be categorised as ‘Agniveers’ who will be serving for 4 years. Following the announcement, numerous protests by the youth are being observed across several States condemning the new scheme.
Alagudu Shivakumar, Saraguru Nataraju, P Marankya, Vijayendra, Mahesh, Benkipura Chikkanna, Kallahalli Kumar, Yachenahalli Somashekar, Umesh, Shivayogi and others were present. (AM/KS)
