Mysuru, June 19:- Thousands of people are expected to visit the Chamundi Hills on the occasion of the first Ashada Shukravara to offer prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the presiding deity of Mysuru. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) BR Poornima has instructed the officials to take measures to observe Ashada Shukravara and Chamundeshwari Vardhanti to be held at Chamundi Hills next month.
She was speaking at a meeting held at the DC’s office here on Wednesday.
She said that the first Ashada Shukravara will be observed on July 5, the second one on July 12, third on July 19 and the last one on July 26, and Vardhanti of Goddess Chamundeshwari on July 24. Devotees are expected to visit the temple in large numbers on these days. The ADC asked them to organise the events properly.
“Tight police security has to be provided atop the hills. All the vehicles have to be parked at Lalita Mahal helipad. Free bus facility will be provided to the devotees from the helipad. Drinking water, sun and rainproof pandals will be erected for the devotees at Lalitha Mahal helipad. Makeshift toilet facility will also be provided. Required facilities should be provided for the artistes who perform. Doctors and medical staff should be made available for the devotees in case of emergency,” she instructed.
The ADC instructed the concerned staff to set up barricades where the devotees get into the bus and install electric lights and CCTV cameras to avoid thefts.
The devotees will be served food at Dasoha Bhavan of the hills and the devotees are allowed to distribute prasadam. The ADC instructed the officials to make sure that no untoward incidents take place during the important days.
Administrative officer of Chamundeshwari Temple Prasad, Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) engineer Suresh Babu, tahsildar Mahesh Kumar, Naragund, ACP Gajendra Prasad and other officials were present. (MR/KS)
