As the central government has increased the maternity leave for all employees from three months to six months, the state government is planning to appoint additional 20 teachers each to 204 blocks in the state.
Addressing the reporters here last week, State Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait said that an additional teacher to each block would be deputed to schools, where teachers take sick leave. “Children should not suffer when the teachers go on leave and classes should be conducted without any hindrance. A meeting would be called in this regard with the officials and a decision will be taken.”
He said that at present it has been recommended to introduce the annual scheme instead of semester scheme for classes from first to fourth to make the system uniform. A decision in this regard will be taken soon at a meeting shortly.
When asked about the donation menace in private schools, Sait said, “The representatives of school managements will be invited for a meeting and necessary instructions would be issued to them.”
