Mysuru, August 11:- After a brief lull, the rain continued to lash Mysuru on Tuesday (August 11). The city continued to receive incessant rains from the morning. In fact, the city witnessed heavy downpour for almost one week. With the imminent threat of rain continuing to haunt the city, low-lying areas are likely to take the brunt.
Besides Mysuru, the district received heavy rain for the last one week. In Nanjangud, several areas, including Halladadakeri, were inundated and many roads were marooned forcing the authorities to divert the traffic on Ooty-Mysuru Road for a day. Several areas in and around Srikanteshwara Temple were submerged after the water level in Kapil River crossed the danger mark.
Around 78 houses were damaged in H D Kote taluk, while 55 houses were damaged in Periyapatna taluk, 16 houses were damaged in Nanjangud taluk, 35 in Hunsur taluk, 65 in Sargur taluk and six houses in T Narasipur taluk.
According to district authorities, there is no major mishap due to rains or floods. The district administration and the respective taluk administrations are ready with all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of people and livestock. (NAV)
