One-day workshop on ‘Recent Developments in Information & Communication Technology’ was organised by department of Electronics, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru at its premises, on Saturday.
The workshop aimed to provide information on the advancements in information and communication technology, information on internet based tools and services such as Internet of Things (IOT) and hands on training on how to explore the ICT tools for learning.
A V Srikantan, Principal, RTTC, Mysuru inaugurated the workshop and delivered the keynote address on the topic ‘Internet of Things (IoT)’. In his key note address, A V Srikantan emphasised that the present world is web-centered and hence information and communication technology forms the backbone of education and clinical services. Only those who are able to explore the ICT tools for learning, would excel in their profession.
He added that the latest development in this field is Internet of Things (IOT). IOT has revolutionised the clinical services and needs to be adopted towards the benefit of persons with communication disorders. He hoped that the knowledge earned through this workshop will be a platform for the students and professionals to explore the immense scope of IOT.
Dr Asha Yathiraj, Information & Communication Director, AIISH, in her presidential address highlighted that the field of speech and hearing is technology intensive and hence it is essential for the students and professionals in this field to have a sound knowledge of the ICT tools. Manohar N, Coordinator of the workshop, welcomed the gathering. Dr Ajish K Abraham, HOD, Department of Electronics, briefed about the objectives of the workshop and introduced the key note speaker. About 100 participants including students and professionals in the field of speech and hearing attended the workshop.
