The city will host two-day All India Medical and Dental Students Conference at JSS Medical College from April 2.
Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday, Founder of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement R Balasubramaniam said that the second all India level conference will be held in the city which will be attended by 700 students from different medical and dental colleges.
The ‘Me De Vision-2016’ aims to provide opportunities for medical and dental students from all over country to discuss about academics and present scenario in the world of medicine. It is also aimed to convey common responsibilities of the medical students. The theme of the meet is ‘Orienting Medical Education to Suit Indian Health Needs’.
Spiritual centers like Avadhoota Datta Peetham and Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama have extended support for the meet.
“Reforms in education are one of the most debating issues in the country now. Similarly, reforms in medical education are also important. In this manner Me De Vision had conducted a detailed survey on essential medical education reforms. As many as 20,000 students across the nation have expressed their views. The Me De Vision had collected the data and outcome of the survey which will be released during the conference. The report will be submitted to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,” said Balasubramaniam.
Sutturu Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamy will inaugurate the conference, Director of NIMHANS B N Gangadhar will deliver the keynote address. AIIMS Director, Bhubaneswar, Dr Ashok Mahapatra will deliver the valedictory address on April 3.
