All-India Poetess’ conference at KSOU

The All-India Poetess’ confer­ence will be held on May 21­22 at the Cauvery auditorium at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) campus in the city under the joint auspic­es of All India Poetess'(AIP) organisation and KSOU

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar will inaugurate the conference on May 21 and former minister Leeladevi R Prasad will release a souvenir on the occasion.

Vijayalakshmi Kosagi, President of AIP, and T M Geethanjali, co-ordinator of the event, said more than 500 poetesses from across India are expected to take part in the conference and the event was being organised for the past 15 years.

They said that the main objective of the event was to uplift women besides creating social and cultural awareness among women, promote liter­ature of women, create linguis­tic harmony, establish national integration through literature and to empower women and added that such conferences have been held successfully in states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Pun­jab and Gujarat.
