Along with providing facilities, work for improving the dept: DC tells officials

Mysuru, February 4:- “Officials should make sure that government schemes and facilities reach the beneficiaries. Along with that, officials have to work for the development of the department as well,” said Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar.

He was speaking at a meeting of development of tribal communities at the DC’s office here on Monday.

MLAs Ashwin Kumar and HP Manjunath collected information regarding funds released under SC, ST and TSP development schemes. Officials of CESCom said that Rs 84 lakh was available in SC/ST scheme and of that, Rs 106 lakh has been spent. Sankar wondered how the department got to spend the additional Rs 22 lakh.

Manjunath said that the officials have not taken the meeting seriously and have shown negligence in showing expenditures in taluks used for development works. He said that works are not taking place properly at hostels and said educated youths are not getting jobs.

The MLAs also discussed preparing plans for the departments and the proper distribution of resources. (MR/KS)
