Mysuru, July 2:- The president of the Alumni Association of University of Mysore (UoM), Dr Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura, fondly known as ‘Plant Doctor,’ has said that the association has visited farms and helped farmers in difficulty.
He was speaking at a press meet held at the Mysuru Press Club on Thursday (July 2).
“Tobacco grown at Goralli, Salukoppal, Joganahalli and surrounding villages were affected by an unidentified disease. The entire yield was about to be destroyed. The association held a discussion with the farmers and has found a solution for it,” he said.
“We have identified the disease and got it solved with the money of the association. We have provided free pesticides for the crops. The crops have recovered in three weeks. Farmers have thanked the association for its timely help,” he added.
Vice president of the association Prof Vasanthamma, general secretary Dr Nandini Murthy, member Dr Krishnamurthy Chamaram and Dr Sapna M S, associate professor, Department of Journalism and Communication, UoM were present. (MR/KS)
