Alumni students felicitate teachers in ‘Guru vandana’

A ‘Guru vandana’ programme was observed by 1987-1991 batch stu­dents of MGSV College at the col­lege hall, here recently.

The teachers’ appreciation pro­gramme ‘Guru vandana’ proved to be a useful occasion for the students to show their reverence to the teachers. It highlighted the importance of teachers in shaping future citizens of the country.

Inaugurating the programme, MGSV College Principal B Ma­hadevaswamy said that we have been emphasising the importance of teachers, i.e., ‘Guru’ from time immemorial and hence, have been recognising their contributions.

“Guru vandana means ‘Rever­ence for the teacher’ – it is thanks­giving from a student to a teacher, expressing his or her gratitude. Teachers play an important role in shaping the personality of a student, instilling wisdom among them. By organising a programme like this, our students have ex­pressed gratitude towards their teachers and it is also a sign of a good culture on their part.”

Chemistry lecturer Rajugowda who was honoured by the students reminisced old days, his experi­ence in teaching and said that the satisfaction one gets from teach­ing is unmatchable and teaching is part of a continuous learning. More than 25 teachers were felicitated; the wives of late teachers were also honoured on the occasion. 1987­1991 batch students and faculty L Mahadevaiah, Anantharam Ku­lakarni, Mahadevaswamy, Chaya, Kanaka Parameshwari, Omkaresh­war, Somanna, Raghu, Siddhalin­gaswamy, Rangachari, Madaiah, Muniswamy, Doreswamy, Shivas­wamy, Shivanand, Dr Madhusud­han, T S Raghu, 0 G Nagendra, Shankar Babu were present.
