In an effort to encourage amateur theatre in the state, Rangayana will be conducting Amateur Theatre Festival during weekends from May 15 to June 19. Addressing press persons on Friday, Rangayana Director H. Janardhan said that six amateur troupes from various parts of the state would be staging plays at Bhoomigeetha as part of the festival which will be inaugurated by thinker K Marulasiddappa on May 15 at 6 pm. Theatre personality Dr H K Ramanath will preside. Convener Mahadev and Deputy Director Rangayana Nirmala Matapathi were present.

PLAYS TO BE STAGED
May 15: Darashiko play directed by Chethan would be staged by Samanasa Kodavuru, Udupi.
May 22: Uddhara play directed by Manjunatha Badigera would be staged by Abhinaya Taranga, Bengaluru.
May 29: Dalitha Bharatha Kath-ana directed by Ajeyagowda would be staged by Chaluva Ranga Shivamogga.
June 5: Raktharathri play Shiva-nanda Ingaleshwara would be staged by Dehali Nagara Ka-lavidara Sangha.
June 12: Buddha Prabhddha play directed by Vasudeva Gangera would be staged by Smudaya Dharawada.
June 19: Agni our Bharka play directed by Rani Balbeer Kaur would be staged by Tagore theatre Society, Chandigarh.
