Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in city has achieved world class distinction by securing first place among the private universities in India as per the higher education institutional survey conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE), a British company.
QS and THE are specialised in higher education and provide the definitive list of the world’s best universities, evaluated across teaching, research, international outlook, reputation and more.
Quacquarelli Symonds – a globally accepted higher education ranking agency, has enlisted Amrita University at 169th position in the recently released 2016 installment of the QS University Rankings: Asia, the largest-ever regional university ranking. With this, Amrita stands at 13th position among Indian Universities and first among Indian private universities.
Amongst 920 universities that were considered for ranking from 17 countries in Asia, 350 were ranked. 23 Indian universities figure in this ranking list with the leaders being:
Indian Institute of Science – rank 33; IIT Bombay – rank 35; IIT Delhi – rank 36. The ranks of other private universities are – BITS Pilani – rank 178; Amity University – rank 195 and Manipal University – rank 200.
Amrita University is also featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings -the only global performance table that judges research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. Amrita University has achieved a rank in the bracket 181-190. Amrita is ranked 15th among Indian Universities and first among Indian private universities as per THE ranking. 22 Indian Universities emerged in the top 200 with the leaders being: Indian Institute of Science – rank 27; IIT Bombay – Rank 43 and IIT Kharagpur – rank 51.
