Angawadi workers protest in support of demands

Mysuru: In support of their various demands, Karnataka State Anganwadi and Helpers Federation staged a protest in front of the Zilla Panchayat office here on Friday.

They said, “All those who are associated with Anganwadi centres should be vaccinated within a stipulated time. The government should provide them all safety equipment. The Covid-19 test should be conducted compulsorily.”

The protesters said, “Around 6 per cent of the GDP should be kept aside for public health.   10 kg food grains should be provided to all the workers. Families which are not under taxable limit should be paid Rs 7,500 for a period of six months.”

They said,  “For Ugadi, Deepavali, Ramzan and Christmas festivals, the bonus should be paid. Details of helpers should be verified by the police department.  Those with SSLC and degree qualifications may be given a suitable post. The staff who have been working for the last three years should be transferred. “

City president Puttamma, rural president Bhagya, secretary Y Mahadevamma, HD Kote president Suma, Periyapatna president Bhuvaneshwari, treasurer Geetha, Sunanda and others were present.
