Annual Convocation of UoM on Sunday

Mysuru, March 15:- “The 99th annual Convocation of University of Mysore will be held on March 17 (Sunday) at the Crawford Hall here. Around 28,613 students will be given their degrees,” said the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore Prof G Hemanth Kumar at a press meet held at UoM on Friday.

“Around 18,127 female and 10,036 male students will get their degrees. 384 PhD degrees will also be distributed out of which 166 are women and 218 are men. 368 medals, 182 awards will be distributed among 206 students, out of which 135 are female students. 8,241 students will be given post-graduation degree certificates. It includes 4,928 female students. 19,538 students will get their graduate degrees which include 13,033 female students,” he said.

“Mata Amritanandamayi of Amritanandamayi Mutt of Kerala and seer Karivrushabha Deshikendra Shivayogishwara of Kadasiddeshwara Mutt, Tiptur, will be awarded honorary doctorate,” he added.

“Higher Education Minister GT Devegowda will preside over the event. Chairman of All India Technical Education Department of New Delhi Dr Anil D Sahasrabudhe will deliver convocation address,” he informed.

When questioned about the minister’s participation amidst the code of conduct, he said that a letter has been written to the Election Commission of India, seeking permission for the minister to take part in the event without any speech.
