Mysuru, November 13:- Another spot-billed pelican was found dead at Kukkarahalli Lake. With this, the death toll of spot billed pelicans at the lake has risen to three within a month.
The death of these rare birds has caused concern among the bird lovers. The bird was found floating near the walking path at the lake premises on Tuesday. The people who observed it informed the district administration.
The samples of the two dead birds were sent to Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals Lab in Bengaluru. The report of the lab about the cause of birds’ death is expected in two days. It is suspected that the birds may have died similar to the incident at Kokkare Bellur where several birds died due to worms.
DCF Dr KC Prashanth said that he is in constant touch with the lab and said the exact reason behind the death of the birds will be known once the report is received. (KS, NGB)
