Appanna likely to contest from Chamundeshwari on BJP ticket

Mysuru, March 29:- If there is any constituency in Karnataka that is drawing all the attention ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for May 12, it is Chamundeshwari constituency.  More so, It assumes significance with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah likely to contest from Chamundeshwari. Last time out, Siddaramaiah won from Varuna constituency. Grapevine is that the Chief Minister is likely to pave for his son Dr Yatindra to contest from Varuna and try his luck from  Chamundeshwari.

Amidst the star-studded high voltage contest, BJP and JD(S) alike are going all out to humble Siddaramaiah at the hustings.

BJP has almost confirmed ticket for Appanna, a Nayaka. Appanna is not new to elections and he has been contesting the elections from the constituency from various parties for many years now. If everything goes well, he will be contesting from the BJP this time.

Senior JD(S) leader MLA G T Devegowda is pitted against Siddaramaiah and it will be interesting to see how things shape up in the coming days.

Competing against two big stalwarts in Siddaramaiah and Devegowda, Appanna’s chances may not look very bright, at least now. He was part of the team that fought for Parivara and Talavara communities to be given ST tag. Last time, he had contested the election from KJP and came third. Besides him, Hemanth Kumar Gowda, Arun Kumar Gowda and Marballi Murthy are all trying for a BJP ticket. (MR/KS).
