‘Appu Namana’, a tribute to late actor Puneeth Rajkumar

Mysuru: V K S Foundation held a condolence programme ‘Appu Namana’ to the late Kannada actor ‘Power Star’ Puneeth Rajkumar at Vivekananda Nagar Circle here on Wednesday (November 10).

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Sunanda Palanetra paid floral tribute to the actor’s portrait and launched the programme. Several of his movie songs were played on the screen and sung on the Dais by the singers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunanda Palanetra said, “Mysuru was Puneeth Rajkumar’s favourite place, he loved taking a walk in Kukkarahalli Lake and climbing Chamundi Hills whenever he visited the city. Many of his movies were shot in Mysuru. A meeting will be held regarding naming a circle and a road after Puneeth Rajkumar.”

Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman H V Rajiv said, “Puneeth Rajkumar won the National Award at a young age. He was a role model for many youngsters. A tribute will be held at the Manasagangotri Open-Air Theater.”

Vengipura Mutt Elai Alvar Swamiji, MCC member Champaka, V K S Foundation president Vikar Shastri, Brahmin Association president D T Prakash, senior social worker Dr K Raghuram Vajpayee, Sandhya Suraksha Trust president B R Nataraja Jois, Pradeep Kumar and several others were present. (AM/SH).
