Archaeology Dept looks after temples around Mysuru Palace: Venkatesh

Mysuru, August 2:- “The maintenance of the temples surrounding the Mysuru Palace is controlled by the Department of Archaeology,” said the commissioner of the department, Venkatesh on Thursday.

“More than 17 temples come under Chamundeshwari Group of Temples. Already, more than 8 temples have been given a makeover. At present, second stage works are going on at Shwetha Varahaswamy Temple and Trineshwara Temple. Affected statues will be reconstructed maintaining their originality,” he said.

“The protection of temples is done with the guidance of officials of the Archaeology Department at a cost of Rs 3 crore,” he added. (MR/KS)
