Arnav Muralidhar, Anoushka Bhatt emerge Karnataka State Under-9 Chess champs

Arnav Muralidhar of Bengaluru won the Karnataka State Under-9 years Boys Chess Championship scoring 8.5 points out of 9 rounds while Siddarth Bhat from Mangaluru securing 7 points won the runners-up trophy.

Anoushka Bhat of Bengaluru won the Karnataka State Under-9 Girls Chess Championship scoring 8.5 points out of 9 rounds. While Mysuru girl Dathri Umesh of NPS defeated WCM Shefali A N of Mandya in the final round to secure the runners-up trophy with 7.5 points.

The top two are selected to take part in the national Under-9 Chess Championship-2016 which is going to be held in Punjab. The top-ten cash and trophy prizes were awarded in each category and also all players were presented with special prizes and certificates, as a form of encouragement.

The prizes were awarded by Vishwanath, Director of Dasprakash Hotel, Arvind Shastry, Seceratry, UKCA, Nagendra Murlidhar, Director of Mysore Chess Centre, Gavi Siddhya Joint Secretary UKCA, Madhuri Jain Secretary Mandya District Chess Association.
