Mysuru, May 25:- “The Ashraya houses built under Rajiv Gandhi rural accommodation scheme of 2002-03 do not have basic amenities. The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is neglecting them without giving facilities,” said H R Sundaresh of District Consumer Information Centre (DCIC).
“Central government directed the state government to build houses for the homeless to the MCC. Applications were invited by the beneficiaries in all constituencies of Mysuru. Advance amount of Rs 10,000 was collected from them for a 20×30 site. Thousands of houses were built, but none of the houses has basic amenities such as drainage system, electricity, and drinking water,” he said.
“Along with the beneficiaries, consumers of additional list have also paid Rs 10,000 for money. But even after 10-15 years, the MCC has not provided homes to the beneficiaries. The troubled consumers can file complaint at Jayanagar court. There is no need for advocates in this issue. The compensation will be provided within 2-3 months.
