‘Ashraya’ houses which were built for the homeless people by the government have been distributed unevenly and as a result many homeless people are waiting to get houses for the last 20 years, said advocate Syed Ameer.
Addressing a press meet here, he said that almost 205 homeless people are trying to contact the city corporation, but in vain. Officers are asking for bribes for which the poor and homeless people have no answers.
“Ashraya houses at Sharadadevinagar, Ramabainagar, Kalyanagiri, Hebbala, Lakshmikanthanagar, Dattagalli, Nehru Nagar are vacant. Measures have to be taken to hand over these houses to the needy,” he added.
Gayasuddin, Nandakumar, Krishna, Arifa Begum and others were present.
