“The Dasara sports meet will be inaugurated on October 1 at Chamundi Vihara Stadium. Renowned badminton player Ashwini Ponnappa and Paralympics silver medallist Deepa Malik will inaugurate the Dasara sports meet in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,” said Superintendent of Police, Ravi D Channannavar.
He was addressing the press persons held at Vartha Bhavan, Mysuru.
“The sports torch will be brought from the Chamundi Hills on October 1. The torch will be paraded in the prestigious areas of Mysuru and will be taken to the Chamundi Vihara Stadium. Badminton player Ashwini Ponnappa and Paralympics silver medallist Deepa Malik will be handed over the torch to inaugurate the Dasara sports meet. TheChief Minister will be present on the occasion,” he said.
“The Dasara sports meet will consist of gymnastics, volleyball, kabaddi, hockey, kho kho, badminton singles and doubles, basketball, hand ball, table tennis singles and doubles, tennis singles and doubles, football, ball badminton, swimming, throw ball, net ball, chess, blinds’ chess, body building, adventure sports, wrestling, half marathon and cyclothan,” said the SP.
Fomer cricketer Javagal Srinath will inaugurate the half marathon competition. Minister Tanveer Sait and other ministers will take part in the inaugural session.
Secretary of the sports subcommittee Suresh, Mariyappa were present at the press meet.
