ASICON-2016 kickstarts in Mysuru; surgeries telecast live

Over sixty surgeries which include two robotic surgeries conducted in various hospitals across the country were telecast live at a pre-conference workshop held in the city on Wednesday.

The live video was telecast on the sidelines of the national ASICON-2016 meet on Wednesday. The surgeries performed by national and international doctors at six hospitals including JEM Hospital in Coimbatore, Tulip Hospital in Bengaluru, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and JSS Hospital from Mysuru were telecast on the occasion, while Dr Yuvaraj from Mumbai who performed live robotic kidney surgery and Dr Arun Pras who performed robotic bariatric surgery from Delhi were also telecast on the occasion.

The five-day conference aimed to update surgeons about the latest developments in surgical procedures which will have a distinguished mix of international and national panels and participate at the conference proceedings. Over 750 posters were being displayed indicating the enthusiastic research being carried out by the surgeons.

Around 5,000 experts and post-graduate students will take part in the conference and nearly 1,100 scientific papers will be presented. The official inauguration of the ASCION-2016 will be inaugurated this evening. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was expected to inaugurate the meeting but has now cancelled his visit to Mysuru.
