Mysuru, July 23:- The members of Dalit Sangarsha Samithi (DSS) and progressive organisations staged a protest in the city on Monday, condemning the assault on social activist Swami Agnivesh.
The protesters gathered in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office here, said that 80-year-old Agnivesh was assaulted by the members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP). They alleged that such incidents are increasing in the nation since Narendra Modi assumed charge as the Prime Minister. They alleged that these attacks were targeted on Dalits and minorities.
Arya Samaj leader Swami Agnivesh was attacked by a mob on July 17 in Pakur, Jharkhand.
Hundreds of members of the organisations participated in the protest. (GK, NGB)
