Assembly polls: Mysuru to attract voters through illuminated signage board

Mysuru, April 26:- The Mysuru District Administration and the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Committee have found a innovative way to educate the citizens of Mysuru about their right to vote.

With an intent to make Mysuru a model city for maximum voting turnout, the district administration and SVEEP Committee have planned to erect a illuminated signage atop Chamundi Hill which reads: ‘Nimma Mata, Nimma Hita’ (Your Vote, Your benefit) to kindle the electorates mind.

The newly illuminated signage atop Chamundi Hill will be on the lines of the signage ‘Welcome’ or ‘Suswagatha’ signage which is displayed during annual Mysuru Dasara celebrations.

Speaking to CityToday, Chief Executive Officer of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat and Chairman of SVEEP Committee Shivashankar said, “This was initiated as part of SVEEP programme designed to increase the awareness and participation of the voters in electoral process. The illuminated signage will be operational from April 27 to May 11 night. A test on the same was conducted on Wednesday night and will be functional from tomorrow.”

The signage board will be illuminated from 6 pm to 10 pm from April 27 to May 11.

The SVEEP Committee and the district administration have been trying its best to make Mysuru a model city for maximum voter turnout.
