Mysuru, May 9:- A drive down the outer ring road (ORR) could be a nightmare. With no lights during the night, many commuters had complained to the authorities that it was tough to commute on the ORR.
When they came to know about the issue, District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar and Urban Development Minister B A Basavaraj asked CESCom to keep ORR lit during night time but with a huge bill pending from Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the power was disconnected.
During the meeting of the ministers with the officials of MUDA, this issue was brought to the notice of Somashekar and Basavaraj. They instructed the officials to pay the pending electricity bill of Rs 1.5 crore to the CESCom and also instructed the officials to provide electricity to the street lights.
The street lights on the 44-km long ORR are now functional. (MR/GK)
