ATME College holds workshop on Network Security

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru, organised a three-day workshop on ‘Network Security’ in association with E-Cell IIT Kanpur recently.

During the inaugural address Principal ATME Dr L Basavaraj spoke about the importance of workshops and advised students to take maximum use of the workshop. He also explained about the importance of CCNA certification for the CSE students to take up networking as a profession.

Professor M S Veerendra Kumar, HoD, CSE mentioned the necessity of workshops on the latest technologies in the knowledge era.

He also informed the students about networking concepts and the role of a network engineer in different software industries. He added that one could take up jobs such as security analyst, information and network security manager, security engineer, security assessment manager and that of a system security engineer.

Resource person Pratap Shandra Jantua, Network Design and Support Engineer, Network Bulls Private Limited explained in detail about basic knowledge and network working principles with security.

He briefed about providing security in real time applications. Further he quoted on different address scheme available for secure transmission of data across the devices.

The three-day workshop covered all essential topics that students required to understand to build a small network. Students were informed about the basics of internet working, securing networks with different passwords. Routing, switching security fundamentals, how to setup physical connectivity of routers and switches and data flow in a network were also highlighted upon.

Around 100 students of CSE Department, students from other local colleges and faculty members of CSE Department attended the workshop. In the workshop certificates were distributed to all the participants.
