The Department of Mechanical Engineering of ATME College of Engineering conducted a two-day workshop on ‘Sphere Drones’ at the college campus recently.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. L Basavaraj, Principal, ATMECE. In his inaugural speech, he enlightened the participants about the development and uses of drones and also how important they have become in the field of surveillance, security, research and entertainment. He also advised the students to develop the technology further and take it up as a project work in the final year.
Experts from Skyfi Labs, Bengaluru, Bheru Singh and Ramanath Bhat were the resource persons.
On the first day, Bheru Singh of Skyfi Labs took the theory session to explain about the aerodynamics and the types of drones and unmanned vehicles. It was followed by a design and fabrication session by the students who were formed into 11 groups of five students each.
On the second day, fabrications were completed in the morning session and in the afternoon, testing of the drones made by the students were conducted. The drones were flown successfully in the college campus.
