Audience mesmerised by folk music, dance at UoM centenary celebrations

The folk songs and dance won the hearts and minds of the audience at the cultural programme held at University of Mysore Amphitheatre on Monday.

A cultural evening held as part of the valedictory of UoM Centenary Celebrations mesmerised the audience with an extravagance of folk music and dance. The Hamsajyothi Natyakala team from Bengaluru brought a folk atmosphere all around Manasagangotri premises singing various folk songs on the occasion.

Noted folk Bananduru Kempaiah and team started the programme by singing ‘Yello Jogappa Ninna Aramane’ which received a great applause by the audience assembled there. Later ‘Uttanahalli Maramma’ song was sung by Sudhakar and folk singer Mahendra rendered the song ‘Munjaneddu Kumbaranna.’

The major attraction of the programme was former MLA of Kollegal Constituency Balaraj who sung ‘Chellidaru Malligeya Banasureri Myale.’  Madhye Natya shalas also presented various folk dances on the occasion.
