The medical fraternity noted that prevention of diabetes was the key factor
To mark the World Health Day on Thursday, the medical fraternity is creating awareness about diabetes among the people, as sedentary lifestyle is one of the most important causes for diabetes and other diseases.
However, awareness on prevention of diabetes is the key factor. Engaging in physical activities for a couple of hours and yoga can help combat diabetes, the doctors noted.
To stress on the need to eat healthy food to beat diabetes which is a non-epidemic but a silent killer disease, medical students took out an awareness rally and cycle ride in the city as part of the World Health Day.
City Police Commissioner B Dayananda flagged off the rally.
The event was jointly organised by Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Indian Medical Association Mysuru chapter. MMCRI Principal Dakshayini, Dean Krishnamurti, MMCRI Chairman Marulasiddappa, Community Medicine Department Chairman Dr Nasiruddin Ahemmed, Dr Sumanth were present at the event.
Mysore Medical College Nursing, Paramedical, MBBS students and students from Cauvery Nursing College took part in the awareness rally.
Consume food rich in fibre such as vegetables and fruits and eat as much food as required to quell hunger, the medical students stressed.
