Awareness rally held on ‘right to vote’

Mysuru, April 6:- Mysuru, April 6:- To motivate citizens to come out and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, an awareness rally was conducted from Metagalli to Vijayanagar in Chamaraja Constituency in the city on Friday.

The rally conducted by DISHA (Development Initiatives for Sustainable Human Advancement) Foundation in association with ADR (Association for Democratic Reforms) with the support of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) was flagged off by Sowmya Dinesh,  president, Innerwheel Central Mysuru and Dr Rekha of DISHA Foundation.

About 110 people, volunteers from Ekalavyanagara, Ambedkar Jnana Loka, Bharathnagara, Ananda Jyothi Network and DISHA Foundation walked from Metagalli Police Station to Vijayanagar Water Tank to create awareness about the importance of voting.

A signature campaign pledging to be an ‘honest voter’ was also conducted in which more than 136 people have signed to be an honest voter. Oath taking ceremonies were also held at three places where store owners, autorickshaw drivers and other citizens took oath to not only vote but to vote responsibly.-(KK)
