Ayodhya ‘bhumi pujan’: Liquor sales banned in Mysuru district

High alert sounded in Mysuru district; police tighten security

Mysuru, August 5:- Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar on Tuesday (August 4) issued an order banning the sale and transportation of liquor in the district in view of the ‘bhumi pujan’ for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Wednesday (August 5). Sale of liquor has been banned from 10 pm on August 4 to 6 am on August 6.

Anyone found selling liquor illegally will be dealt with as per the law, the DC has warned.

Prohibitory orders under CRPC Section 144 has also been clamped in the district to avoid any untoward incidents. Sec 144 prohibits the gathering of 5 or more people at public places.

The police have kept strict vigil on the movement of people on the roads and streets to curb large gatherings. The district administration has deployed large posse of police force in sensitive localities across the city. The police is also keeping an eagle’s on Ram Temples in the city and prohibits conduct of any religious activities, processions and has also advised people not to display banners and hoardings on the streets.
