Prime News, National, Aurangabad, January 23:- Former India captain and cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin and two others were booked for allegedly cheating the city-based Danish Tours and Travels Agency for Rs 20.96 lakh, police said.
The complaint was lodged owner of agency Mohammad Shahab Mohammad Yakub, 49, a resident of Labour Colony in Aurangabad, an official said on Thursday.
According to police, Mujib Khan, personal secretary of Mohammed Azharuddin, of Aurangabad had approached Danish Tours and Travels Agency and booked airlines tickets destination of Mumbai-Dubai-Paris and Mumbai-Paris-Dubai for Sudesh Awvekal (Kerala) and Mohammed Azharuddin (Andhra Pradesh) in November,2019. The complaint states that the cheque issued against the fare by Mujeeb Khan was dishonoured in the bank.
When Shahab was asked for payments he avoided it repeatedly. Based on the complaint, the police has registered an FIR against all three persons. Further investigation is on, the police added.
Meanwhile, Azharuddin has rubbished the travel agent’s claims in a video message that he posted on Twitter. “I strongly rubbish the false FIR filed against me in Aurangabad. I’m consulting my legal team, and would be taking actions as necessary,” Azhar said. (Inputs: Agencies, NGB)
