To mark the first death anniversary of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, a special lecture titled ‘Enlivening, enlightening Karma yogi – APJ Vision 2020’ was delivered by Badarinarayan Iyengar, world record holder in yoga, at a programme jointly organised by One India One People Club, Department of History and Physical Education, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru.
Drawing an analogy between yoga and traffic awareness Iyengar said yoga controls, the mind and decontaminates the body. He hailed personalities like Kalam and Swami Vivekananda as the greatest yogis and quoting extensively from Dr Kalam’s book ‘Vision 2020,’ he said India can be a superpower.
Dwelling at length on yoga for a successful life, the speaker said Karma yoga is doing good to the whole world, to love the whole world and love all beings. He added that there are three types of yoga, Bhakti, Raja and Gnani (self reflection and meditation). He called upon the students to have the courage to think differently, courage to discover the impossible and courage to invent.
