An awareness programme on banking was conducted for the students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at DMG Halli on Thursday.
Under the financial literacy programme of RBI, an awareness programme on banking was conducted by the faculty of Staff Learning Centre, along with financial literacy counsellor of State Bank of Mysore.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish, a faculty called upon the students to take up jobs in banking by applying online to IBPS for entrance exam and interview to get directly selected as cashiers or probationary officers (managers) or even for management posts to earn high salaries and lead a contempt life.
Hamsanand, a faculty from the Staff Learning Centre, emphasised on the banks’ schemes of educational loan by which the students can get financial assistance for taking up higher education and advised them to read well to earn high percentage in their final exams to be eligible for such loans.
K V Ramanath, Financial literacy counsellor, State bank of Mysore, detailing the serious situation of banking after demonetization, advised students to minimise their cash transactions but to go in for cashless banking transactions by learning and practising the procedure of alternate channels of banking for transfer of funds which includes the IMPS through mobile banking, NEFT through internet banking etc. and feel relieved instead of visiting banks for cash. Power point presentation of cash less banking was also displayed to bring reality in the minds of students.
