Mysuru, June 29:- Bhalki Sri Hiremath’s Gurubasava Pattadevaru on Monday (June 28) said that Basava philosophy is eternal and will be relevant forever.
He was talking at the weekly programme ‘Jnanavaridhi-30’ organised at JSS Mahavidyapeetha. The topic was Basaveshwara then and now.
He said, “Basavanna was not just a person, he was a source of energy. He loved the entire mankind and treated everyone equally. He tried to help all those who were oppressed. Kings were also impressed by Basavanna’s simple philosophy.”
Pattadevaru said, “The saint-philosopher takes the credit for converting an outlaw into a pious man. Today’s Parliament concept is based on Basavanna’s Anubhava Mantapa where all issues were discussed. The philosophy of life then was ‘work is worship.’ There is always fruit if we work hard. Basavanna fought for the abolition of the caste system in society.”
After the online lecture, there was a question and answer session which was answered by experts from various fields. The weekly programme deals with art, literature, culture, education, science, technology, religion, philosophy, yoga, health, lifestyle and other important issues. (MR/GK)
