He was speaking after participating in the Basava Jayanti programme organised by the District Administration, Kannada and Culture Department, Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha and other organisations at Kalamandir in the city on Saturday.
“He showed a path to the society to follow on with the unique vachanas. He was the voice of Dalits, backward communities and untouchables. He explained the pain, life, and happiness of the people with his vachanas. The vachanas are now included in the textbooks of various countries. Due to his contribution, Kannada literature has gained a name in the world,” he added.
