Beat system to keep an eye on crime: Top cop

Mysuru, May 16:- “With a view to to make the home department people- friendly, beat system will be introduced in the Mysuru commissionerate,” said police commissioner Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao.

He was addressing the press at the Karnataka Police Academy on Tuesday.

“The home department is planning to introduce developed beat system. With this, people will have good relationship with the police and crime rate swill also come down,” he said.

“So far 1313 beats have been distributed in the city. The employees who are involved in the beat will be working as a bridge between the police department and the public. A beat book has been distributed which includes all the details. Rowdy-sheeters, people with crime background will be kept track of. It is a unique effort and the public should co-operate with the police,” he added.
