Mysuru, April 26:- In view of the grim situation of pandemic in Mysuru city and district, the district administration has decided to establish a Covid Care Centre (CCC) at Beedi Workers Hospital in Shanthinagar of Narasimharaja (NR) Constituency in Mysuru from Monday (April 26).
NR Constituency MLA Tanveer Sait had urged the District-in-charge Minister S T Somashekar and Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar to establish the CCC at a recently held meeting, visited the hospital on Friday along with MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag and other officials to get first hand information.
Sait said that NR Constituency has a large number of labourers and the poor, hence, it is necessary to establish CCC in the area as they are living in cramped spaces and it is difficult to undergo home isolation in case of getting the infection. “The CCC at the 200-bedded hospital will largely help them to get care and treatment.”
The Congress MLA pointed out that in 2020 the CCC was established in Farooqia Women’s College at Udayagiri and this year the exams are going on in the college.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will provide necessary infrastructure, the district administration will provide the staff and the Health Department will handle medicines and pharmaceutical requirements, Sait said and added that the Centre will have 50 oxygenated beds. The centre will also function as a Covid testing and vaccination centre.
Shilpa Nag said that the district administration is taking adequate steps to control the spread of the virus. She said that following the request from MLA Sait and other people’s representatives of the area, the Beedi Workers Hospital at Shantinagar will be open as a CCC from Monday.
