The Mysore Centre of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) had organised the ‘MTech Theses Awards Ceremony’ at the Golden Jubilee Bhavan, SJCE recently. Dr G L Shekar, Principal & CEO, National Institute of Engineering was the chief guest.
Every year, the association calls for theses on ‘Structural Engineering’ from different colleges of Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya and Hassan. These theses are evaluated by external jury and awards given away. The prize winners will present their theses during the function.
The chairman of the evaluation committee, Dr G S Suresh, Professor of Civil Engineering and Dean of Academics, NIE spoke and complemented the winners and their guides. The first and second prize winners presented their theses.
Chief Guest, Dr Shekar, in his address, said, “In assessing emerging technology’s potential, the critical concern is whether it can satisfy customer needs and deliver value in a better way. If the answers suggest that the new technology can really deliver on its promise, the natural expectation is that it will be a big hit in the market. If the new technology’s dependence on other innovations is low, the expectation will hold. Therefore, new technologies and innovations should be in tune with the ecosystems of complementary elements.”
Dr Shekar gave away the prizes and certificates to the winning students and certificates to their guides.
