Prime News, Karnataka, Theatre-Drama, Mysuru, September 15:- Mysuru Rangayana and Babukodi Karanth Ranga Pratishtana will be organising ‘Bharatiya Rangasangitha Natakotsava’ from September 19 to 26, said Rangayana director Adyanda C Cariappa here on Wednesday (September 15).
He said, “Karanth will always be remembered for the indelible mark he has left on theatre and it is our duty to make our younger generation understand his contribution. Famous Sufi singer Mukhiyar Ali, Maharashtra’s folk singer Shakunthala Bai Nagarkar will perform during the eight-day programme. Rangayana artistes will also render Karanth’s theatre songs, stage his four dramas, besides Mookana Makkalu and Dr S L Bhyrappa’s Parva.”
Cariappa said, “Karanth’s bust will be unveiled at Rangayana’s garden. National School of Drama Bengaluru director Veena Sharma Bhoosanoorumutt, industrialist M Jagannath Shenoy, famous theatre artiste and director Sundar Raj, Srinivas Prabhu, Suresh Anagalli, Kannada and Culture Department’s director S Rangappa and others will be participating.”
He said, “On September 19, the respective district Kannada and Culture Departments will be organising Bharatiya Rangasangitha Dina.”
Mysuru Rangayana has been conducting theatre education since 11 years. Exams for the years 2020-21 are over. In the first semester, all the students have done exceedingly well.
Rangayana director said, “15 students will be selected for the academic year 2021-22. For this academic year, students have already been selected. Classes will start from next October.” (MR/KS)
