A man pedaling for social harmony in the name of World Peace campaign arrived in Mysuru on Tuesday. M Chakravarthy is on a mission to spread world peace by pedaling a cycle with white flags and displaying a board which reads: ‘In this world…. All countries and religions people are our friends…. Let’s have world peace.’
A native of Tamil Nadu, he started his journey in 2012 from Coimbatore to Bengaluru. He has visited several districts in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa, in the last three years, and now plans to tour entire south India.
A security guard by profession at Indiranagar in Bengaluru, he works for four to five months in a year and spends the earned money for his expenditure on the peace campaign tour. In a chat with ‘City Today,’ he says “As I use bicycle, the expenditure cost is very less. I manage for food and breakfast with the money earned during four months of work. Some people sponsor me by giving money and accommodation.”
“Since childhood, I have been a witness to people quarreling with each other for religion, property, caste, and on several silly issues. I know that world peace cannot be achieved if I alone spread the message by pedaling across the country, but the message can surely influence people to understand the value of life which can curb social conflict. I visit schools, colleges and spread the message of love, peace with the young students, which will surely help towards promoting harmony. In villages, few people have stopped me and inquired about my bicycle tour to spread the message of ‘peace.’ They realise the need of peace in life, and motivate me further. Now I am focused on peace and save environment campaign,” he says.
Chakravarthy will be pedaling towards Bengaluru on Wednesday, and from there he plans to tour south India.
