Big spike of Covid-19 positive cases in Karnataka, tally at 904

Health News, Karnataka, Bengaluru, May 12:- On Tuesday (May 12), Karnataka reported a total of 42 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, taking the tally to 904, according to morning media bulletin from the Health and Family Welfare Services, Government of Karnataka.

The state saw 31 fatalities and 426 cases have been cured / discharged from the designated Covid-19 Government Hospitals.

For the last five days 196 cases have been reported in the state after witnessing a big jump in positive cases as 45 cases were reported on May 8; 41 on May 9; 54 on May 10; 14 on May 11 and on May 12, 42 confirmed cases were reported.

Among the 42 cases, Bagalkote reported single highest number of confirmed 14 cases, followed by Dharwad – 9, Hassan – 5, Bengaluru Urban – 3, Bidar, Yadagiri and Dakshina Kannada – 2 each and Ballari, Chikkaballapura, Kalaburagi and Mandya – one each.

Bulk of the cases reported on May 12 is linked with history of visit to Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Mumbai. Other cases attributed to Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and through previous patients contacts.

Among the 42 cases, 34 are men, 7 women and a 4-year-old girl.

Patient 863 is a 30-year-old man from Ballari and his contact tracing is underway. P-864 is a 46-year-old man from Chikkaballapura having the history of contact with P-790, while P-865 is a 55-year-old man from Bagalkote having history of ILI and P-866 is a 14-year-old boy from Kalaburagi who is a contact of P-529.

A 33-year-old woman (867) and 38-year-old man (868) from Yadagiri tested positive with the history of travel to Ahmedabad in Gujarat, while 28-year-old man (869) from Mandya is having a history of visit to Mumbai.

A 16-year-old boy (870), 14-year-old boy (871), 33-year-old man (872), 21-year-old man (873), 19-year-old youth (874), another 19-year-old boy (875), 34-year-old man (876) from Bagalkote contracted the virus after visiting Ahmedabad.

Two from Dakshina Kannada, P-877 and P-878 are a 26-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman who were a contact of P-507.

P-879 to P-887 are from Dharwad who tested positive after a visit to Ahmedabad.

P-879 is a 55-year-old man, P-880 is a 31-year-old man, P-881 is a 25-year-old man, P-882 is a 70-year-old man, P-883 is a 26-year-old man, P-884 is a 18-year-old youth, P-885 is a 19-year-old man, P-886 is a 20-year-old man and P-887 is 27-year-old man.

P-888, 889 and 890 are from Bengaluru Urban. They are a 33-year-old woman, 38-year-old woman and 38-year-old woman who are a contact of P-454.

P-891 and 892 are from Bidar who contracted the novel coronavirus after visiting a containment zone in Bidar.

Patient 893 to 899 are from Bagalkote having history of visit to Ahmedabad. They are a 30-year-old man, 17-year-old boy, 32-year-old man, 20-year-old man, 18-year-old youth, 29-year-old man and 80-year-old man,

P-900 is a 36-year-old man, 27-year-old woman (901), 7-year-old girl (902), 45-year-old man (903) and 4-year-old girl (904) from Hassan with a history of visit to Mumbai. (NAV)
