Mysuru, March 18:- Along with coronavirus scare, the city is facing the threat of bird flu as well. The Mysuru district administration carried out a survey to identify the birds in the city as the bird flu cases have been confirmed.
The survey by the district administration has been completed and the officials have identified 6,436 birds. The bird flu was confirmed after the death of fowls at the residence of one Ramanna at Metagalli. The one-km area surrounding his house has been declared sensitive.
17,820 houses have been identified in the sensitive zone, out of which 144 houses have birds, 1252 are domestic birds, 5,100 are commercial birds, 254 pet birds, 12 quails and 18 Turkey birds. The region has a total of 6,436 birds. The district administration has instructed the culling of all the birds as a precautionary measure. (MR/KS).
