BJP activists demand Minister Puttarangashetty’s resignation

Mysuru, January 7:- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit of Chamaraja Constituency staged a protest on Monday, condemning the hike in tax on fuel by the state government.

The protesters also targetted Minister Puttarangashetty whose aide was caught with Rs 25 lakh at Vidhana Soudha.

MLA L Nagendra led the protest at Gandhi Square in the city.

He said that the fuel price has been reduced but the state government is troubling the people by hiking the fuel tax. He said that the leaders of the coalition government who protested against the price hike have remained silent when the prices are slashed. He also urged Puttarangashetty to resign as minister on moral grounds.

Narasimha Raja Constituency BJP also staged a protest at Dr Br Ambedkar Circle (FTS Circle) condemning the hike in fuel tax and demanded the resignation of Puttarangashetty.

“When the fuel price was increasing due to fluctuation in the international market, Rahul Gandhi and Congress staged protests. The state coalition government too supported the Bharat bandh. Now, the state government has hiked the fuel tax. But Rahul Gandhi has not uttered a word. The government should take back the tax hike,” said BJP city president Dr Manjunath B H.

The protesters also alleged that the state government was involved in corruption and the money found with the aide of Puttarangashetty is a solid proof.  The protestors demanded the immediate resignation of the minister.

Sandesh Swamy, B P Manjunath, Giridhar, BJP Slum Morcha secretary Giridhar, Lohith, NR BJP president Su Murali and others were present. (MR/GK).
