BJP sitting MLA Thippeswamy followers agitate against the candidature of Sriramulu

Political News, State, (Bengaluru), April 14:-Followers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sitting MLA Thippeswamy on Friday staged agitation for denying ticket and against selection of Lok Sabha member B Sriramulu to the Molakalmuru constitutency in Chitradurga district.

At one stage, the agitators tried to attack Sriramulu’s car as soon as he arrived at Nayakanahatti village Thippeswamy temple. The agitators indulged in violence and threw footwear and pelted stones by shouting slogans against him and BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa.

Police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the mob which had indulged in violence and make way for Sriramulu’s canvoy.

Speaking to newsmen after visiting the temple, Sriramulu said that he was selected as candidate by the Central leaders and he will contest as per party direction.

“I am not afraid of these agitations. I will contest and confident of winning. I was never against candidature of Thippeswamy and in fact had recommended his name to Party National President Amit Shah and State President B S Yeddyurappa. But it was a strategic move by party selected me.” “I only got him ticket from my newly floated BSR (now merged with BJP) in the last election and got him elected. I have no personal grouse against him,” he added.

Thippeswamy followers have been agitating after the first list was announced with selecting Sriramulu. They demanded to retain Thippeswamy and withdraw Sriramulu’s name.

Even Sriramulu was in favour of Thippeswamy. What enraged him (Thippeswamy) and his followers was denying ticket despite promising him to retain his candidature. Police had made elaborate bandobust and chased away the agitators.
