Black Day by tribal people on August 9

Mysuru, August 6:- “Black Day will be observed on August 9 by tribal people opposing World Tribal Day on August 9,” said H D Kote Tribal Farmers’ Association secretary D M Basavaraj at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Monday.

“The United Nations has announced August 9 as World Tribal Day. Instead of celebrating on that day, we will stage a protest on that day, urging for our rights. We will garland the bust of Mahatma Gandhi in front of District Law Courts here at 10 am and stage protest in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office,” he added.

He alleged that the tribal people are provided with nothing and said a CD ‘Kakanakote Adivasigala Sthiti’ will be released on the occasion.

Convener Raju, president Kenchaiah, Vijaya Kumar and B M Nataraj were present. (MR/KMR).
