“I appreciate Centre’s decision to demonetise Rs 500 and 1000 notes to control black money. But the sudden implementation of the plan has troubled the public and affected day-today-life. I pity the plight of the common man who is suffering from the decision,” said former MP H Vishwanath.
He was addressing a press meet here on Wednesday. “Morarji Desai had demonetised notes in 1978 itself. It is not any revolutionary move. Stop praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and let him bring back the black money stashed away abroad. Identify black money holders before they convert the black money into white,” he said.
“Modi won the election with the help of this black money only. Now he asks for another fifty days time. He is a good speaker and he knows how to make people believe him. Black money is not in the form of mere cash, but in land, gold, foreign currency. Many have committed suicide because of the money lenders who operate with the black money. Home Minister should take strict action against them,” he said.
He asked the government why no action is being taken against former minister Janardhan Reddy who is allegedly performing his daughter’s wedding with black money. He also urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to withdraw the celebrations of birth anniversaries, stating that they cause chaos among the citizens and is a waste of time.
City Congress president T S Ravishankar, rural Congress president Dr Vijaya Kumar, chief secretary Shoukath Ali Khan were present at the press meet.
